Many people have put a lot of time and effort into pushing for completion of the ERA. As it now stands it is dormant, ratified by 35 states with three more needed for passage, plus Congressional authorisation of an extension.

The ERA is the only amendment that had a time limit attached. It can be changed.
The new effort timed to the anniversary of Alice Paul’s birthday.

It’s a bit hard for me to comment as I’m not really up to speed on this. What I do say is, if it has your support it has mine. Your judgement is always to be valued
Thank you for the vote of confidence! The ERA is so close yet so far, and it would legally right so many discriminatory wrongs inherent in our society for 225 years.
Here is the wording:
The Equal Rights Amendment
Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.
Good on you, Nelle. You are so vocal with such deserving causes – no, needy causes: they need consciousness, & support.
Hi Nelle, I’ve revisited this to see if it’s over yet – or what has happened. When is this to expire?
I would love to know what has happened, as on Carrie (Lady With a Truck)’s blog, she’s had an abuse against women post that she reblogged & it was about another law. What is going on over there? This is really frightening. Like I said in comment on that reblog – all those steps forward, then back: now, in 2013.
